Direct access to Lima drive

I thought that an advantage over NAS was that files could be accessed directly. In the event of a Lima hardware, software or server failure, just plug the external HD directly into my Mac. This does not work. Is there a way for MacOS to directly access the files on Lima drive?

Not an easy one.

We are working on an export tool that you can use from a desktop machine to recover all your files. However this is currently paused because our Mac developer is focused on El Capitan support.

I have a pre-release command-line version of the tool I could send you if you want to try it though (but be aware that it has no UI yet).

I want to buy this but it is of no use if can't access the hard drive without being connected to lima. How can we get access to our decryption key?
