I'm getting "The file "filename" could not be opened.

Today I woke up my Mac mini and started the Lima app to start to work. This is what happened:

  • I opened the Lima app to check on the status, it was it was offline.
  • I closed the Lima app and waited 10 minutes and reopened the app, now its online, BUT
  • When I open Finder to go look at the files I need to look at I get an error message:
  • 92c5dc2f18e3209fab3c02397c967bde and
  • 136a9923272e829c1417cbd6d4beb668
  • When I try to copy when of these files off my Lima drive it does the copy okay, but when I try to open that file it does not.
  • and on top of this I noticed that all the files on my Lima drive have the SAME DATE!!!! see image:
  • 9926287cc58f940ef866bf77577e9f01
  • I have not worked on any of this files on my Lima since the date in the file name.
  • On top of that for the 1000's of files on my Lima they are all dated with "Jun 1, 2016, 3:24PM"

As of right now I have no way to get my files off my Lima so I can actually do the work I need. I getting REALLY worried and up set that I can"t get my files.

Hello Anthony,

We reproduced the issue before the last update.

Now, with the version 1.2.1 on OSX, we do not reproduce it.

Could you please update your Lima application and tell us if you still meet the "filename couldn't be opened" issue?

Thanks

Update:

I booted my Mac mini into Windows 7 (via bootcamp) and checked on the issue above. To see if I can get into the files I need.

When I started the Lima app in Windows I did not have same problem I was having on my Mac, I only had to open it once.

  • This image shows the same location on my Lima drive, and the dates are correct here.8602fa4174faca709140cacc55ce9f4c
  • This image shows the file "customer-CSS-2016-05-31.css" that I tried to open on my Mac OS side, open and able to work in that file:ac2e8e265c5cbcdbe504f05120e2056a

I can access all of my files on my Lima drive that I need to, but the apps I use to complete my work are all on my Mac OS X 10.11.5 side (Photoshop, Dreamweaver and etc.)

So this problem isn"t fixed I just have another way to access my files for now, until it breaks in the Windows 7 side.

Here is a diagnostic report from the Windows Lima app: 055ni6y05fs

STILL NEED HELP!!!

Well after staying in Windows 7 most of the day and coming back to my Mac OS X (same computer, via BootCamp) all the files I had a problem with including not being able to see icon previews on my Mac side seems to be fix. I don't know what I did or what it did but this is getting very old.

I personally consider the Lima app to only 15% reliable and is lacking in any information that will help the end user.

I will assume for now this is corrected, but I have know way to confirm that 100%.

So far these seems to be correct in version 1.2.1, I have updated a few days ago. If I run into this problem again I will create a new topic. Thank you for your help!
