Lima is "Protecting your personal Data - (Hard drive found)." How long does this take, initially?

Mine has been running for 6 days now.

In fact, there is no indication whether it's running or frozen, there is no way to tell with Lima. Silly!

Hi all,

Thanks for reaching us out!

No worries, it is normal that your Lima device remains several hours, even days, in the encryption phase; actually, the larger the capacity of the hard disk connected to the box, the more this phase will be time consuming.

Please be aware that you shouldn't interrupt this stage, as it could damage your Lima installation.

Thanks a lot for your understanding, and for your patience.

Cheers!

Mine is doing the same thing. Has anything happened on yours after the 6 days? and how much memory was on the hard drive originally?

Mine did the same for 24 hours and I closed the Lima program on my Lenovo H50-50 (12GB RAM and 1TB HD). I then booted up and the Lima program popped up a message: Problem with the software, quit, restart. I did that and had the same problem with basically nothing happening. I have been unable to find what the sequence is in the software to complete the installation and the installation seems not to complete. It looks like the Lima Ultra is a boat anchor. My external hardrive for the Lima Ultra is a Seagate Samsung D3 with 5TB. I have Windows 10 Home, which is up to date. Does anyone know how to get the software to complete the process? It does not seem to be copying files from my desktop to the external drive. Is someone from Lima monitoring this forum? If so please help!

mine runs for 3 days now. Will it work eventually? I'm scared of interupting it, might lose some data?

I took everything out from my hard drive and reset it. Theres one picture in it and lima is just stuck "encrypting personal files" for about a day and a half. I just got tired of it and closed it.

I think Lima is shut down. No answers for months, the devices are not working any longer, files are lost and support is not answering either email or support board. It‘s a shame! Never!! Never!! again!!

I know, it's really bad. They released the latest update in nov 2017, so hopefully they are trying to fix it... Would just be great with some form of response in the meantime.

Mine ran for 4-5 days and still appeared to do nothing. The only fix I found was to use any empty Hard Drive. However the software kept looking for the initial setup Hard Drive so I had to delete my Account and start from fresh. Now the unit works as it should....
