Lima App > Sync > transfer status / transfer progress > Manage option for file transfer

Syncing /transfering large amounts of data between my Windows laptop and Lima uses a lot of my laptops resources (mainly the HDD) thus making it almost impossible to use my laptop for something else while there is a transfer going on. It would be nice to be able to pause file transfer.

Some ideas:

- Pause automatically during certain times

- Option to pause all transfers vs. option to pause transfer of specific files/folders

- Option to pause upload / download separately

Same option requested for Mac app as well.

Yep. Here I can't talk over Skype on any device (MBP mac capitan, iPhone iOs 7, and android smartphone) in the network when transferring data. Turning Lima off (the only option so far) makes it complicated to resume, if for example I was transferring parallel folders.

Another Idea. There have to be options for another ways to transfer data to the Lima disk, to populate it with data. This is a weak point of Lima: what good is a USB3 at one side if at the other is only Ethernet, and this Ethernet definitely will be significantly (and sometimes massively) slowed down by a connection to network?

Centralizing the info on the big Lima Harddisk over the network takes in my case weeks (if becoming international is the aim, there has to be the consideration that in many countries there are slower connections than in others. I am lucky here when I have 200kb upload - am not on the countryside, but in the 11millon city Lima). Or people who have to access their router from the computer only per wifi although it Lima is plugged directly.

  • For example a possibility to plug Lima to a USB3 hub, and make Lima transfer the data - this way, it goes trough Lima
  • Or much easier: unplug disk, plug it to computer, use the USB3 to populate it in a speed aceptable for our days, and then plug back to the Lima to have its software recognize the info.

PD: this would only be used in exceptional cases to populate the disk with big amounts of data (mainly at the start, our TB of info), not to access it for normal cloud use, so it does not contradict the answer on https://feedback.meetlima.com/topic/can-you-transfer-files-to-lima-without-the-internet. Lima has also already the possibility of backup the data in case of emergency, this would only be kind of the other way round.

Hello Stephen,

This need for more information under which file is and is not uploaded to Lima is understood, this must be done plateform wide. The overlay is an option, other options exists.

We are gathering information to work further on this.

thank you for your feedback.
