General > API > for third-party apps: Release an API for use in user written software

I would find it immensely useful if an API was released allowing me to write programs which would allow me to push files from the software to my Lima. Then I wouldn't need to have full blown Lima on every machine but could send things from multiple machines more selectively - especially if i don't have daily control over those machines and don't want someone checking out the other files i have stored.

We plan to do that someday, but not short term.

To fuel the discussion, what kind of app would you like to create?

Would be nice to create an add-on for Chrome Browser!! :)

Yes! That would be great. As of now i'm hesitant to buy Lima, since I would be locked in to the given apps! With an open API it would be the best solution on the market!

Native video viewing in VLC smartphone apps would be nice. They are a lot more feature rich than the Lima player.

It would be incredibly powerful to let a user of an app choose their lima as storage of media and data instead of dropbox, icloud or a self hosted storage solution. One app that makes use of dropbox and icloud is dayone. So an API for lima would be a game changer!
