Use library Apple Photos on Lima

Hello, recently installed the Apple Photos library on my Lima, thinking to use from it. Unfortunately, when I launch the Photos app on my Mac, i get an error. Is it possible to enable the use of Apple Photos library via Lima ?

I think it would be great

Thanks

Photos is the native way to use pictures on a Mac. How can it not work?

I don't think that full access would be necessary to iPhoto. However, one thing would be pretty cool ... having an action to turn photos browsing my lima repo on iPad (clockwise, counter-clockwise etc).

I did not move my Apple Photos library to my Lima, but when I ask Photo's to import the pictures I have on my Lima all I get is the following:

I would imagine you can't store your Photos/Aperture/iTunes libraries on Lima because the drive is encrypted. If you quit Lima app and connect that drive directly to your computer, it won't even show up. Some black magic has to be involved to sync data across devices so quickly and to provide safety.

Also, you really don't want to run these libraries from a network drive... I had my iTunes library on a NAS for years and it's buggy as hell. I finally gave up this year. It gets incrementally worse with image files. Don't even mention video... These libraries work best from (ideally SSD) local drives. Blazing! ;o)

So basically, use Lima as directed: let it it sync with your mobile devices or manually copy the (individual) files to it and enjoy across multiple devices. Example: I copied a bunch of movies to it from my iMac and now I can just play them on my iPhone. Quite remarkable really.

Please give us an answer for this issue, the main reason I bought a Lima is to put my Photos Library on it! And now I get the error when I try to open it from Lima.

This is a good place to start:

I have struggled with this as well. I would love to be able to use Lima in this way but at present the best I can do is use it as a local backup to my iCloud storage for photos. I have had hard drives fail in the past and lost thousands of irreplaceable photos! After that experience, I decided to pay the extravagant prices for iCloud storage. Storage using Adobe Creative Cloud is similarly priced. The only other option would be using Flicker or Google, both of which do not allow for RAW photo storage without limits on storage space.

What I did was to export all photos from my Mac to LIMA and after that creating a new Library from Photos App, pointing the Picture folder on LIMA.

And it's seems to work! However you will lose any extra comments of your photos because you've create a new database!

You can declare the new Library as System to be able to use it with iCloud.

Hi, after some experiments, I come up with another big problems. Lima seems to export all photos from mobile to Mobile Flow folder but with a different namings shemes on files, so when importing to Photos, we comes up with dupicate photos to double and sometimes triple! When I tried to swith to iCloud, there's happened a big mess!

As I understood, we've to use iCloud or Lima but not both together!

Hi all, If you don't want Lima to upload the pictures from your mobile you can remove the autorisation for Lima under Settings > Lima.
